This platform at Mt Pisgah was built when I was four. The whole hike up, which is only 1.5 miles, is fairly steep in spots and full of large rocks that have been placed as steps. Hundreds of them.
Though it feels like hard work at times to reach the summit, much harder work was done before me, to make my journey easier, possible even. Life is like that all around us, if we take a moment to reflect. We stand on the shoulders of giants.
On each step I wondered about who placed the rock onto which I was stepping. Who laid down the path long ago and who maintained it this week.
Thank you whoever you are.
Today, let’s rest. Tomorrow, let’s go lay down some rocks.
