We’re thrilled to welcome Hayden Martinez, Graphic Design Intern, to the Hornsby Creative Group team!
Every time we bring someone new into the fold, we’re not just adding capacity. We’re gaining fresh perspective, new energy, and unique creative instincts. Hayden brings all of that and then some.
Currently studying graphic design at Western Carolina University, Hayden’s path to design didn’t start with a software tutorial or a branding book. It began with dungeons, dragons, and the intricate world-building that lives in the margins of hand-drawn maps. While illustration was his first love, Hayden quickly discovered that design is storytelling, too—just with grids, fonts, and smart use of space.
What’s he listening to?
Hayden’s soundtrack of the moment is “I Stole Every Song,” a punk cover album by Billy Cobb. Let’s just say: rebellion and remixing are part of the creative process.
His favorite project so far?
A brilliantly titled character design project called “Gnome Man’s Land.” We believe because every good designer needs a sense of humor and a love of tiny, magical troublemakers doesn’t hurt.
Design tools of choice?
Hayden’s go-to is Clip Studio Paint, an app for illustrators on Windows. It’s where his ideas come to life, from first sketch to final polish.
What’s he most excited about at Hornsby Creative?
Hayden’s ready to dive deep into the creation process, from rough draft to final polish. We’re super excited to watch him grow.
And because every creative has their own special spark:
- Fun fact? Hayden learned to throat sing by accident, inspired by Mongolian rock band The Hu. (That alone tells you everything you need to know about his curiosity and range.)
- Off the clock? He plays the banjo and piano for therapy and fun. Creativity doesn’t clock out at 5.
- Dream project? Designing physical mockups or props for TV—something real that someone holds in their hands, where storytelling meets tactile impact.
He’s also no stranger to beautiful places. Having lived in Ramstein, Germany, one of his favorite memories is strolling through Bernkastel-Kues along the Moselle River. That kind of quiet observation and sense of place? It shows up in how he designs.
We believe the best creatives are equal parts explorer, technician, and artist, and Hayden is all three.
Join us in welcoming Hayden, our newest Graphic Design Intern to the Hornsby Creative crew.
