Finally finished. "Together We Are One" Acrylic on canvas 20" x 16" This was done while reading the book of the same name by Thich Nhat Hanh for my Embracing Equity Book Club. A little about the symbolism in the painting. The left side represents the shore of peace, the right side, the shore of suffering. The water and the wave represent impermanence and the concept of no self and interbeing. We have the Bhudda sitting in peaceful meditation under the bhodi tree which is also the global family tree. Apologies to Australia which has been replaced by the pyramidal eye of providence which you can opt to go down the rabbit hole of historical meanings at your leisure. I'll say here it represents both the ego and it's fiery emotions, material and religious ambitions. The fire, earth, air and water come together to form the lotus blooming, a common Buddhist symbol with many interpretations as well. Here it is representing both mental purity, growth from opposing forces, enlightenment and the birth side of of the world cycle arising from death. Strategically it is placed in the Middle path. #painting #acrylics #art #wave #lotus #familytree #mindfulness #eye #surrealism #symbolism #buddhism #oneworld
